About the Role

Avensys Consulting is seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator to join our team in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This is a contract position for an experienced professional with a strong background in managing and optimizing mission-critical production databases across both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments. The role requires extensive hands-on experience in database administration, performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery, and comprehensive production support.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server environments.
• Perform database administration activities including managing users, roles, privileges, tablespaces, datafiles, schemas, indexes, and other database objects.
• Monitor and troubleshoot database performance, identify bottlenecks, and execute SQL/query and database performance tuning.
• Manage Oracle RMAN backup/recovery, Data Pump (expdp/impdp), and SQL Server backup and restore operations.
• Implement and support Oracle Data Guard, RAC, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Manage SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Replication, Log Shipping, and Database Mirroring.
• Perform database upgrades, migrations, patching, refreshes, cloning, and environment synchronization.
• Monitor database health, capacity, storage, sessions, locks, jobs, and alerts; proactively resolve identified issues.
• Handle production incidents, conduct root-cause analysis, manage problems, and execute change activities in accordance with defined SLAs.
• Implement database security measures, access controls, auditing, and compliance standards.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive database monitoring, maintenance, backup, and recovery procedures.
• Collaborate effectively with application, infrastructure, development, and cloud teams to resolve database-related issues.
• Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and disaster recovery runbooks.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess 8+ years of hands-on experience in database administration, specifically within Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server environments. This role requires a professional who is comfortable supporting mission-critical production databases and has a proven track record in performance tuning, backup/recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery.

Technical Expertise

Candidates should demonstrate strong technical proficiency in the following areas:

• Oracle: Oracle 11g/12c/18c/19c or higher, RMAN, Data Pump, SQL*Loader, RAC, Data Guard, Performance tuning (AWR/ASH), Tablespace, datafile, user and privilege management, Database upgrades, patching, backup and recovery.
• Microsoft SQL Server: SQL Server 2012/2014/2016/2017/2019/2022, T-SQL and query optimization, Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Replication and Log Shipping, Backup, restore and recovery, SQL Server performance monitoring and troubleshooting.
