Drilling Supervisor

About the Role

Virtucruit is collaborating with a prominent mining company in Saudi Arabia to recruit a Drilling Supervisor for their Drilling Operations Department. This full-time position is based in Najran. The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective and safe supervision of drilling operations, ensuring all activities comply with operational requirements, safety standards, and established procedures.

Role Overview

The Drilling Supervisor will oversee drilling crews, coordinate daily drilling activities, and monitor equipment performance. A primary focus of this role is to ensure that production targets are met efficiently while maintaining high standards of safety, productivity, and operational performance. This position requires strong leadership and hands-on drilling experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the highest level of safety, health, and environmental work standards are maintained across all drilling sites.
• Enforce strict adherence to company HSE policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
• Supervise daily drilling operations, including rig performance, crew activities, and site workflows.
• Plan, organize, and coordinate drilling activities in line with approved drilling programs.
• Oversee site preparation, drill pad construction, and access road readiness.
• Ensure drilling rigs are properly mobilized, positioned, and commissioned.
• Monitor drilling progress, penetration rates, and core recovery to meet operational targets.
• Coordinate with geologists regarding drill collar locations, orientations, and target depths.
• Ensure all drilling equipment is maintained, inspected, and serviced regularly.
• Conduct daily site inspections to identify hazards and enforce corrective actions.
• Lead daily toolbox meetings, shift briefings, and safety discussions.
• Review and approve daily drilling reports, logs, and production data.
• Manage workforce allocation, shift schedules, and contractor performance.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and operational issues.
• Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements on site.
• Monitor drilling consumables usage and control operational costs.
• Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to crews.
• Maintain communication with management regarding site performance and issues.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies.
• Develop, mentor, and train local workforce and junior staff.

Qualifications and Experience

• 5-10 years of experience in drilling operations.
• Sound knowledge of drilling operations and equipment.
• Proven ability to manage drilling teams effectively.
• Strong leadership capabilities.
