Senior Operations & Backup Engineer

About the Role

Gulf International Bank is seeking a Senior Operations & Backup Engineer to join their team in Al Khobar, Eastern Region. This full-time role focuses on the administration and operational monitoring of backup solutions, supporting daily operations, and ensuring the availability and integrity of business systems and applications.

Job Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to administer and monitor backup solutions, ensuring they align with the bank’s targeted vision. The Senior Operations & Backup Engineer will support daily operations, including BAU (Business As Usual), EOD (End of Day), and SOD (Start of Day) processes. This involves controlling all software applications, such as core banking and treasury systems, using established standard operating procedures. A key responsibility is to ensure continuous monitoring of business systems for availability and to maintain up-to-date backup operations.

Key Accountabilities

• Deliver implementation, release deployment/configuration, monitoring, and support services for backup tools, specifically those based on EMC Networker Products.
• Provide monitoring and support services for scheduling tools, such as BMC Control-M Products, and backup solutions based on DELL EMC Networker Products.
• Offer technical support and administration for backup tools and their related plug-ins, including investigating, assessing, and resolving support issues, which may involve designing, building, and modifying batch schedules.
• Provide technical support for automation tools and their related plug-ins, requiring investigation, assessment, and resolution of support issues, potentially involving the design, build, and modification of job configurations.
• Plan and implement system enhancements, including upgrades.
• Maintain implementation standards and support documentation to ensure adequate service levels.
• Collaborate with various IT Departments to gather business requirements and needs, ensuring EOD flow and backup/restore operations meet satisfaction.
• Monitor, analyze, and support backup/restore operations, reporting issues to the concerned teams and ensuring data backup adheres to the Bank's Policies and Procedures.
• Conduct daily monitoring, analysis, and support for EOD processes across all environments, reporting issues, statistics, and analysis to functional support teams of key IT systems.
• Monitor business systems and bank transactions to ensure all systems are operational at all times, reporting issues to relevant IT department teams.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in operations and backup engineering.
• Demonstrated experience with backup solutions administration and operations monitoring.
• Proficiency in supporting daily BAU, EOD, and SOD operations.
• Experience with EMC Networker Products and BMC Control-M Products is required.
