Safety Engineer

About the Role

Bitumat Co. / Mapei Group is seeking a Safety Engineer to join their team in Dammam, Eastern region. This full-time role involves supporting the Health, Safety, and Security department by applying Bitumat’s approach to related activities, developing necessary infrastructure, and monitoring performance to ensure compliance and achieve organizational objectives. The position is open to Saudi Nationals only and requires 2-5 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in the development and implementation of department policies, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant requirements.
• Implement the Safety and Health department strategy, ensuring alignment with Bitumat’s overall strategy.
• Contribute to company policies and develop site-specific policies to fulfill procedural and legislative requirements.
• Supervise the activities of subordinates to ensure work is carried out efficiently and in compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Ensure the implementation of company policies, procedures, work ethics, and applicable standards such as ISO 9000, OHSAS 18000, and safety policies across all aspects of Safety, Environment, Fire & Security functions.
• Manage the maintenance and distribution of agreed safety processes and procedures to inform all employees about safety campaigns.
• Oversee activities related to Hazardous Materials Identification/Management, Safety & Loss Inspection, Accident Analysis, and testing to ensure adherence to Bitumat Safety, Security, and Health standards.
• Oversee the adoption of safety technology and equipment recommendations, and maintain consolidated statistical data for safety and fire-related equipment/systems.
• Manage the preparation and supervision of plant and building security patrols.
• Organize entrance gate and plant area activities to control personnel and vehicle movements.
• Ensure effective investigation and reporting of thefts, break-ins, suspected frauds, damage, arson, or sabotage affecting the Company.
• Liaise with local security forces to maintain contact and ensure high levels of assistance and information.
• Develop Company emergency and disaster control plans.
• Conduct investigations into all accidents, significant incidents, and fires to determine causes and recommend preventive actions.
• Investigate significant damage to Company property, determine causes, and recommend preventive actions.
• Ensure regular and effective inspection tours by Safety personnel and that corrective actions are taken for fire and safety installations or procedures.
• Ensure all safety and firefighting equipment is regularly inspected and maintained, and that the volunteer fire brigade is properly manned and trained.
• Advise the Company on the use, care, and control of safety equipment and personal protective equipment.
• Report on the performance of the EHS management system to top management.
• Conduct coaching and mentoring for subordinates to support continuous learning and skills development.
• Generate timely and accurate statements and reports for the Safety and Health Department.
• Comply with all relevant safety, quality, health, and environmental procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements

• 2-5 years of experience in a relevant field.
• HSE experience is mandatory.
• Good level of English proficiency is required.
• Certifications in NEBOSH IGC, OSHA, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 are required.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Dammam, Eastern region. The role involves working within the Bitumat Co. / Mapei Group framework, contributing to a safe and compliant operational environment.
