The Role of Cook I

St. Regis Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Cook I to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position involves preparing and cooking food items according to established recipes and quality standards, ensuring proper presentation and portioning. The role requires a professional who can maintain food quality and assist with kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare special meals or substitute items as required.
  • Regulate temperatures of cooking equipment, including ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
  • Thaw stored food from the freezer in the refrigerator.
  • Ensure proper portioning, presentation, and garnishes for all dishes.
  • Maintain accurate food logs and monitor the quality and quantity of food prepared.
  • Communicate when assistance is needed during busy periods.
  • Inform the chef of surplus food items that can be utilized in daily specials.
  • Notify Food and Beverage service staff of removed items and menu specials.
  • Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality and presentation standards, and food preparation checklists.
  • Prepare cold food items.
  • Assist management with hiring, training, planning, evaluating, motivating, and coaching employees, serving as a role model.
  • Follow and enforce all safety policies and procedures, report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and hazardous working conditions, and complete required safety training and certifications.
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets.
  • Anticipate and address guests' service needs and use clear and courteous language in all communications.
  • Develop and maintain positive professional relationships with peers, collaborate to achieve common goals, and respond appropriately to other employees' problems.
  • Ensure compliance with quality requirements and standards.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as requested by supervisors.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Technical, trade, or professional school diploma.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of related work experience.
  • Supervisory Experience: No supervisory experience is required for this role.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work standing, sitting, and moving for extended periods.
  • Capability to reach objects overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds (* kg) without assistance.
