About Parsons and the GIS Expert Role

Parsons Corporation is seeking a GIS Expert to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Role Purpose and Contribution

The GIS Expert will be responsible for leading and executing all phases of Geographic Information System (GIS) projects. This involves defining project scope, managing resources, and ensuring the successful delivery of GIS solutions. The role requires significant technical expertise in GIS applications, data management, and spatial analysis to support project objectives and client deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed work plans and schedules for all phases of GIS projects, including defining scope, schedule, and procedures.
• Determine budget estimates and staffing requirements for defined project scopes and schedules.
• Evaluate and recommend necessary hardware and software for GIS operations.
• Oversee the collection of field data required for projects and screen available data for relevance and applicability.
• Design or oversee the design of GIS, database, and analytical processes, which may include system development tailored to project needs.
• Design and develop (or oversee the design and development of) GIS automation processes for internal use, including modifying application code.
• Utilize various spatial analysis methods, such as interpolation and modeling, to depict patterns and trends of geographic data.
• Integrate hardware, software, and data, assessing the precision and accuracy of GIS data and integrating non-GIS data with GIS applications as appropriate.
• Troubleshoot complex hardware and software problems and develop suitable workarounds.
• Perform quality assurance on GIS deliverables, GIS processing, and the execution of tasks by subordinates.
• Evaluate commercial GIS applications and design and develop difficult and complex GIS applications for internal use and client deliverables.
• Produce or oversee the production of client deliverables in both hardcopy and digital formats.
• Provide support for business development activities as may be appropriate.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Planning, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related curriculum (or equivalent).
• A minimum of 13 years of related experience in GIS.

Work Setting

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, contributing to Parsons' projects within the region.
