About the Industrial Engineer II Role at FedEx

FedEx is seeking an Industrial Engineer II to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position involves acting as an internal consultant, focusing on driving continuous improvement and automating processes across various functional and geographical domains within the organization.

Role Purpose and Scope

The Industrial Engineer II serves as a technical expert on complex and specialized subjects, supporting management with the analysis, interpretation, and application of intricate information. This role contributes directly to achieving divisional and corporate goals by leading or supporting projects within its area of expertise. A key focus area for this role is within the clearance process, with an overlap into gateway operations, requiring essential experience in courier, logistics, and clearance systems.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage the lifecycle of operational improvements through innovative solutions.
  • Conduct studies of existing operations to identify opportunities and develop automation solutions for processes and reports.
  • Function as a business analyst, bridging the gap between operational needs and IT solutions, creating innovative solutions, and enhancing business systems.
  • Develop solutions using IT programming languages and MS Office suites to support data analysis, visualization, and measurement.
  • Create project business cases and manage them through their complete lifecycle, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Perform industrial engineering studies to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Create and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Required Qualifications and Professional Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, IT, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of professional experience in a relevant field, with at least 4-5 years specifically in Industrial Engineering and Business Analysis within a similar industry (engineer+ level).
  • Demonstrated experience in process engineering, industrial engineering, process mapping, and improvisation.
  • Proven experience in project management.
  • Business analysis expertise in data and technology disciplines, preferably within the logistics or allied industries.

Essential Technical Skills

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite products, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and business analytics tools.
  • Basic knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts (*, C++, Java).
  • Strong skills in SQL, with experience in creating, analyzing, and troubleshooting complex SQL queries.
  • Knowledge of software and engineering principles.
  • Strong skills in visualization tools such as Power BI, Spotfire, or similar, for developing reports.
  • Basic knowledge of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS).
  • Basic agile practice skills or background, with exposure to working as part of Agile teams.

Candidates must possess essential experience and knowledge in the courier, logistics, and clearance process, including familiarity with relevant systems. This role requires a deep understanding of operational workflows within these sectors to effectively drive automation and efficiency improvements.
