About the Opportunity

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Assistant to join its professional team. This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with 0-1 year of experience to contribute to patient care within a leading healthcare institution.

Role Summary

The Pharmacy Assistant performs essential functions in the preparation and filling of sterile and non-sterile medications, including anti-neoplastic agents. This role operates in strict accordance with accepted standards and established pharmacy policies and procedures, ensuring accuracy and safety in all pharmaceutical processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform professional work in the preparation, filling, compounding, dispensing, and double-checking of sterile and non-sterile medications, as applicable to the area of practice.
• Restock, operate, and troubleshoot pharmacy robotic equipment across different pharmacy areas.
• Maintain control and security of all medications, including controlled and narcotic substances and supplies, ensuring dispensing and record-keeping comply with relevant laws and regulations.
• Pre-package tablets, capsules, and oral liquid medications using available repackaging machines and robotic equipment, maintaining complete required records and appropriate labeling procedures.
• Check and monitor medication-related activities and performance of new senior pharmacists, residents, trainees, and students, with guidance and support from a senior pharmacist as needed.
• Order and maintain proper and sufficient inventory of drugs and supplies, regularly monitoring medication expiration dates. Prepare expired medications for disposal and complete electronic disposal requests in a timely manner.
• Distribute medications to nursing units as required.
• Perform monthly nursing unit/clinic inspections and review outdated pharmacy stocks/supplies as per assignment, maintaining and signing approved forms and records accordingly.
• Maintain a clean working environment, including hoods and countertops.
• Participate in and assist with conducting performance and quality improvement projects.
• Follow all Hospital’s related Policies and Procedures.
• Participate in self and others' education, training, and development, as applicable.

Required Experience

• A minimum of 0-1 year of experience in a pharmacy or related healthcare setting.

Essential Skills

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication preparation and handling.
• Ability to operate and troubleshoot pharmacy robotic equipment.
• Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and adhering to regulatory requirements.
• Commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with pharmacists and other staff.
