About the Role: Registrar Radiologist

National Medical Care is seeking a full-time Registrar Radiologist to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role is suitable for professionals with 0-1 years of experience, offering an opportunity to develop skills in diagnostic radiology. The Registrar Radiologist is responsible for performing and reporting on a variety of radiological procedures and scans, ensuring high standards of patient care and diagnostic accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and report on assigned radiological procedures and scans.
  • View, read, and diagnose examinations using the PAC's system.
  • Approve medical reports promptly after transcription.
  • Provide direct and indirect supervision to junior staff, including Registrars and Residents, as designated by the Radiology department.
  • Ensure a superior quality of medical treatment, compassion, and understanding for every patient.
  • Practice within the framework of clinical privilege for both in-patients and out-patients.
  • Report on X-ray procedures and scans in a systematic, informative, and conclusive manner.
  • Approve reports of X-ray plain examinations and special procedures through the PAC's system as soon as possible.
  • Skillfully perform and report on fluoroscopic vascular or other diagnostic procedures.
  • Provide consultation to medical staff on diagnostic plans and priorities.
  • Supervise various assigned scanning techniques.
  • Assume an active part in the on-call duty rotations within the department.
  • Perform specialized procedures independently, commensurate with experience and skills, according to department protocols.
  • Seek advice and guidance from a Consultant Radiologist when a patient's condition merits further expertise.
  • Provide clinical follow-up of patient progress and management as requested by consultants.
  • Rotate through the specialized units of the department under the supervision of consultants.
  • Participate in the department’s educational and training activities.
  • Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Professional Standards and Compliance

All duties must be performed in strict accordance with professional medical ethics and established standards. This includes adherence to CBAHI / JCIA standards, hospital medical by-laws, and the laws of the Ministry of Health in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, along with any other applicable regulations as per the hospital quality plan.

Patient and Family Education

The Registrar Radiologist is responsible for educating patients and their families according to their needs, as outlined in the patient and family education policy and procedure. This includes documenting educational activities in the patient medical record, involving patients and families in the plan of care, and respecting their goals and choices. Health promotion and teaching should be provided through methods appropriate to the patient’s developmental level, learning needs, readiness, ability to learn, language preference, culture, and specific situations. Adequate time must be allotted to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient education.

Qualifications and Reporting Structure

  • Registration with the Saudi Medical Council and/or a current license to practice medicine in Saudi Arabia.
  • Knowledge of the policies and procedures of the Radiology Department and Riyadh Care Hospital by-laws, rules, and regulations.

This position reports directly to the Head of the Department and involves supervising Registrars and Residents within the Department of Radiology.
