The Role: Senior Architectural Design Engineer

Bin Omairah Company is seeking a Senior Architectural Design Engineer to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time position requires 5-10 years of experience and involves leading and supporting the architectural design and technical development of luxury residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects. The role focuses on translating design concepts into practical, constructible, and high-quality solutions while ensuring compliance with project requirements, Saudi regulations, and applicable international standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and review architectural concept designs for luxury residential, commercial, and other building projects.
• Prepare and develop detailed architectural designs, construction drawings, and shop drawings in accordance with project requirements.
• Translate architectural concepts into technically coordinated and constructible design solutions.
• Review architectural drawings, specifications, BOQs, and other technical documents for accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate architectural designs with structural, MEP, landscape, interior design, and other disciplines.
• Identify and resolve design conflicts, technical issues, and constructability challenges during design and construction stages.
• Ensure all architectural designs comply with Saudi Building Code (SBC), local authority requirements, project specifications, and applicable international standards.
• Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and coordination sessions with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
• Review and evaluate contractor and subcontractor shop drawings, material submittals, samples, and technical submissions.
• Support the Design & Estimation team in developing accurate design solutions considering cost, constructability, quality, and project timelines.
• Prepare and maintain architectural drawings, specifications, design reports, presentations, and other project documentation.
• Conduct site visits when required to verify design implementation and identify discrepancies.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior architectural engineers and draftsmen.
• Ensure consistency and quality across all architectural deliverables and maintain compliance with approved design standards.
• Support value-engineering initiatives by proposing cost-effective alternatives without compromising design quality.
• Prepare architectural presentations and participate in client presentations when required.
• Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, consultants, and other stakeholders for timely resolution of technical and design-related issues.
• Stay updated on architectural trends, materials, construction technologies, sustainability requirements, and Saudi regulatory developments.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

• Proven experience in luxury residential construction and design is mandatory.
• Strong experience in concept design, detailed design, construction drawings, and shop drawings.
• Strong knowledge of architectural materials, construction methods, specifications, and building systems.
• Practical knowledge of Saudi Building Code (SBC) and relevant local authority requirements.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant architectural design software.
• Experience with 3D visualisation / modelling software such as 3ds Max, Revit, SketchUp, or equivalent.
• Strong ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Excellent technical communication and presentation skills.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities within tight deadlines.

Desirable Attributes

• Experience working on high-end/luxury villas, residential compounds, hospitality, or premium real estate projects.
• Experience in Saudi Arabia or the GCC construction market.
• Knowledge of Revit/BIM and multidisciplinary BIM coordination.
• Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 / ERP systems for project or business-related information.
• Previous experience working in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
• Professional certification or membership with a recognised engineering/architectural body.

Reporting and Collaboration

The Senior Architectural Design Engineer reports directly to the DED Manager within the Design and Estimation Department. This role involves significant internal coordination with the Design and Estimation Department, as well as external collaboration with vendors, banks, subcontractors, auditors, and other regulatory bodies.
