The Role: Senior Inventory Specialist

Saudi Gold Refinery Co. is seeking a Senior Inventory Specialist to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is critical for managing the precise tracking and reconciliation of precious metal inventories. The role ensures the integrity of the chain of custody from dore receipt to bullion dispatch, in full compliance with LBMA standards. The Senior Inventory Specialist will report directly to the Finance Manager and play a key role in maintaining accurate inventory records, supporting the financial close process, and ensuring operational compliance with internal and external audit requirements. Candidates should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute daily cycle counts and monthly reconciliations to ensure physical stock matches system records within acceptable tolerance limits.
  • Maintain detailed records of all metal movements to ensure full traceability and compliance with LBMA Responsible Gold Guidance.
  • Prepare documentation and facilitate physical inspections for internal audits and external LBMA accreditation reviews.
  • Investigate any discrepancies between expected and actual inventory levels to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Validate all inventory transactions in the ERP system to ensure accurate financial valuation and reporting.
  • Review and improve inventory handling procedures to enhance efficiency and reduce the risk of loss or error.
  • Train junior staff on proper weighing, sampling, and documentation protocols to maintain high standards of accuracy.
  • Provide timely and accurate inventory data to the Finance team to support month-end and year-end closing activities.

Performance Expectations

Success in this role will be measured by adherence to key performance indicators, including:

  • Achieving monthly inventory reconciliation accuracy exceeding ***
  • Maintaining zero major non-conformities during annual external audits.
  • Completing month-end inventory closing within three business days.
  • Investigating and resolving all inventory variances within 48 hours of detection.
  • Ensuring 100% compliance with chain-of-custody documentation requirements.
  • Successfully implementing improved inventory tracking procedures.
  • Receiving positive feedback from internal and external auditors regarding data readiness.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in inventory management, preferably within a precious metals or high-value goods environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage precise tracking and reconciliation of inventories.
  • Proven experience in ensuring compliance with industry standards, such as LBMA.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems for inventory transactions and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills for variance analysis and problem-solving.
  • Experience in supporting financial close processes and audit requirements.
