SYSTRA Arabia is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer (Design) Bridges/Rail to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position involves acting as a key technical representative for structural matters across a portfolio of rail and metro projects, working as part of the client’s engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Structural Engineer will be responsible for overseeing structural design aspects and ensuring engineering quality within major transportation infrastructure projects. This includes:

• Reviewing structural design submissions and monitoring design development.
• Supporting technical decision-making and ensuring consistent engineering quality.
• Overseeing design consultants and interfacing with other engineering disciplines to integrate structural works effectively.
• Coordinating closely with internal client stakeholders, external consultants, contractors, and relevant authorities for project delivery.
• Assessing structural design approaches for bridges and rail-related structures.
• Identifying risks, resolving technical issues, and ensuring compliance with applicable standards, project criteria, railway requirements, and authority approvals.
• Participating in design reviews, technical workshops, multidisciplinary coordination meetings, value engineering exercises, and design assurance activities.

Project Focus

A particular emphasis for this role will be on structural elements within rail and metro infrastructure, including bridges, viaducts, elevated guideways, stations, depots, retaining structures, and associated civil works.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in structural engineering design and design review.
• Strong design consultancy background in structural engineering.
• Extensive experience in railway, metro, bridge, and transportation infrastructure projects is mandatory.
• Strong experience in the design and review of bridges, viaducts, elevated structures, stations, retaining structures, and other major structural assets associated with rail and metro systems.
• Experience working on major transportation infrastructure projects with multiple stakeholders, interfaces, and approval authorities.
• Gulf and/or Saudi Arabia experience is required.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

• Strong understanding of structural design standards, engineering coordination, constructability considerations, and technical review processes for rail and bridge structures.
• Ability to assess technical proposals, identify structural and interface risks, and support resolution of complex engineering issues.
• Strong communication, reporting, and coordination skills.

Preferred Attributes

• Experience reviewing consultant submissions and working within a client, PMC, or similar project oversight environment.
• Experience supporting client organizations or major government transport entities.
• Familiarity with authority approvals and infrastructure delivery processes in Saudi Arabia.
