About the Internship

Lean Technologies is offering a Software Engineering Internship in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This internship is designed for individuals with 0-1 years of experience and serves as a direct path to a full-time engineering role within the company. As an intern, you will contribute to enhancing the infrastructure that clients use for financial transactions and data access.

Role Overview

The Software Engineering Intern will work with Java Spring Boot services running on Kubernetes. A core aspect of the role involves AI-assisted development, utilizing tools like Claude Code. Interns are expected to become proficient with these tools to enhance development speed and quality, while maintaining control over the delivered work. Each intern will receive guidance from a dedicated mentor, their team, and manager to establish and monitor development goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and debug software enhancements from initial ticket to production, with work reviewed by a mentor.
  • Utilize agentic coding tools, specifically Claude Code, to improve both the quality and velocity of development, and assist the team in establishing effective usage patterns.
  • Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback on others' code and acting on feedback received for personal code.
  • Rapidly learn the team's tools, languages, and workflows to contribute shippable work within the initial weeks.
  • Attend stand-ups, planning sessions, and reviews, and proactively report any risks to owned tasks.
  • Develop an understanding of clients, their end-users, and the regulatory environment of operations.
  • Engage in broader company activities, including company events, demos, and cross-team collaborations.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Final-year student or recent graduate (within the last 12 months) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Practical experience using agentic coding tools, such as Claude Code, as a fundamental part of the workflow, demonstrating discernment in trusting and scrutinizing their output.
  • Working proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Java, C++, or Python.
  • A solid understanding of core software development fundamentals, including version control, testing, and debugging.
  • Evidence of personal projects outside of academic coursework, such as side projects, hackathon entries, open-source contributions, or prior internships.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability, with the capacity to articulate the breakdown and resolution of complex problems.
  • Clear written communication skills, capable of explaining technical work and design decisions effectively.
  • Independence in work, coupled with the judgment to seek assistance when needed rather than remaining stuck.

We encourage qualified candidates to apply for this internship opportunity at Lean Technologies.
