About the Role

KUWAIT STEEL is seeking a Mechanical Technician - Ferro Silicon Plant to join its multicultural and diverse team in Al Qatif. This full-time position is open to candidates with 0-1 years of experience, focusing on mechanical maintenance within an industrial setting.

Role Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the Ferro Silicon Plant. This is achieved by performing essential preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on mechanical equipment. The technician will also support equipment installation, commissioning, and routine maintenance activities, strictly adhering to all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on all assigned mechanical equipment according to established maintenance schedules.
• Maintain various plant mechanical equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, blowers, hydraulic systems, cooling tower systems, valves, and water or oil piping.
• Support the installation, inspection, alignment, testing, and commissioning of new equipment.
• Conduct routine equipment inspections to identify abnormalities and recommend corrective actions before potential failures occur.
• Accurately complete maintenance work orders, inspection reports, and equipment history records in SAP to support continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives.
• Assist in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations and inspect critical spare parts to ensure equipment reliability, availability, and operational readiness.
• Perform all maintenance activities in strict accordance with company HSE policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

• Vocational/Technical Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Maintenance, Industrial Maintenance, Utilities, or a related discipline.
• 0-1 years of experience performing mechanical maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting of industrial equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, blowers, hydraulic systems, cooling systems, piping, and valves.
• Prior experience in ferroalloy plants, steel plants, smelters, cement plants, power plants, or similar continuous process industries.

Technical Skills and Industrial Exposure

• Demonstrated exposure to various maintenance activities including preventive, predictive, corrective, breakdown, and shutdown maintenance.
• Experience working within heavy industrial environments.
• Ability to accurately complete maintenance documentation and reports, including using SAP for record-keeping.
