Medical Science Liaison (Biosimilar)

About the Role

Abbott is seeking a Medical Science Liaison (Biosimilar) to join its Established Pharmaceuticals division. This full-time position is based out of the Jeddah field site location. The role focuses on providing scientific and technical support within the relevant therapeutic area, particularly for biological/biosimilar products.

Role Context

The Established Pharmaceuticals division at Abbott is committed to expanding access to trusted medicines in fast-growing countries. The portfolio includes high-quality, differentiated branded generic medicines across multiple therapeutic areas such as gastroenterology, women's health, cardiometabolic, pain management/central nervous system, and respiratory. This role contributes to maintaining professional relationships with key opinion leaders and academic centers to ensure access to current medical and scientific information.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide scientific and technical support to maintain professional relationships with key opinion leaders and academic centers.
• Act as a scientific expert in the therapeutic area and develop resources for the therapy team.
• Assist with special projects including medical affairs, continuing medical education, advisory boards, KOL development, scientific reviews, local clinical trials, and investigator clinical meetings.
• Provide specialist support for internal and external queries, ensuring prompt provision of accurate scientific and medical information, including adverse event reporting.
• Maintain contact with physicians and opinion leaders in the assigned geographic area to address their scientific knowledge needs.
• Deliver credible presentations on scientific matters to physicians, individually or in groups.
• Establish and develop relationships with medical specialist groups and societies to expand research, advisory, and educational partnership opportunities.
• Participate in identifying qualified physicians and KOLs for collaborative efforts, ensuring scientific and educational integrity.
• Develop awareness of competitor issues and intelligence, communicating relevant information internally.
• Attend relevant Scientific Societies meetings and Conferences, summarizing key messages for internal use.
• Assist physicians with requests for access to Company products on a named patient or compassionate use basis, adhering to legal and regulatory requirements.
• Support sales, marketing, and internal teams by delivering scientific update presentations to enhance their expertise.
• Ensure up-to-date knowledge of product uses and external data through medical trainings for the therapeutic area team.
• Provide scientific and technical support to key opinion leaders and internal medical/clinical teams for publications.
• Ensure all activities comply with applicable local, global, and national laws, regulations, guidelines, codes of conduct, Company policies, and best practices.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum 4 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role specifically with biological/biosimilar products is required.
• Experience in oncology, immunology, or hematology is preferred.
