About the Resident Engineer Role

WSP in the Middle East is seeking a Resident Engineer for a full-time position based in Jeddah and Makkah, Saudi Arabia. In this capacity, you will serve as the Consultant's primary representative on site, overseeing construction activities to ensure adherence to contractual obligations, quality standards, approved specifications, and project schedules.

Role Purpose and Project Focus

The Resident Engineer will provide leadership and technical oversight for the site supervision team on critical transportation and infrastructure projects. This role specifically requires extensive experience in supervising transportation, roadway, and utility infrastructure projects within Saudi Arabia, gained while working for engineering consultancy organizations in site supervision capacities. Candidates with experience predominantly in building projects, contractor organizations, design office functions, or head office-based engineering roles are not suitable for this position.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the site supervision team for transportation and infrastructure projects.
• Act as the primary point of contact among the Client, Contractor, and Consultant team on site.
• Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, standards, and contractual requirements.
• Oversee quality assurance and quality control processes throughout project execution.
• Review and provide recommendations on contractor submissions, including method statements, material approvals, and work programmes.
• Monitor project progress and identify potential risks, delays, and construction challenges.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
• Review, validate, and certify contractor progress reports and payment applications.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Chair site meetings and prepare project status reports for clients and stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to site supervision personnel.
• Support the successful delivery of transportation corridors, roads, highways, utility networks, drainage, and associated infrastructure works.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in site supervision.
• Extensive experience supervising transportation, roadway, and utility infrastructure projects.
• Prior experience working for engineering consultancy organizations in site supervision capacities.
• Demonstrated experience within Saudi Arabia is required.
• Experience predominantly in building projects, contractor organizations, design office functions, or head office-based engineering roles is not applicable for this position.

Work Location and Type

This is a full-time position located in Jeddah and Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The role requires a consistent on-site presence to manage and oversee project execution.
