Control Room Operator

About the Role

Acwa China is seeking a Control Room Operator to join their team in Saudi Arabia. This full-time position involves monitoring and controlling plant operation parameters and coordinating with other operators on all related activities that impact operations. The role requires 5-10 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Comply with all safety rules and regulations and be familiar with fire equipment in the assigned area.
• Maintain familiarity with plant P&IDs, SOPs, work instructions, operation and control logics, emergency operation procedures, and other relevant documentation.
• Monitor all unit parameters, record periodic readings on log sheets, and summarize all shift activities/events in the log book.
• Follow instructions from the Shift Charge Engineer and Shift Supervisor, coordinating with other operators on all activities.
• Respond promptly and take quick actions during abnormal operating conditions.
• Coordinate and ensure Lock Out & Tag Out procedures are followed during equipment isolation for maintenance, as per the approved Permit To Work procedure. Normalize equipment after cancellation when instructed.
• Inspect the unit and auxiliaries during the shift to ensure all equipment parameters are within limits, reporting abnormalities to the Shift Supervisor/SCE.
• Perform periodic protection tests under the supervision of the SCE/Supervisor and maintain accurate records. Conduct equipment changeovers according to preset schedules.
• Raise work requests or defect notes for faulty equipment and follow up on defect rectification.
• Assist in the training and familiarization of new operators.
• Report near misses and implement prescribed risk controls.
• Report deviations in the Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental Management System.
• Ensure proper waste disposal measures are implemented.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications

• A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a similar control room or plant operation role.
• Demonstrated understanding of plant P&IDs, SOPs, work instructions, and emergency procedures.
• Proficiency in monitoring operational parameters and maintaining accurate logs.
• Ability to respond effectively to abnormal operating conditions.

Work Environment

This position requires the ability to work in a remote location.
