Control Room Operator

About the Role

Acwa is seeking a Control Room Operator to join their team in Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves monitoring and controlling plant operation parameters and coordinating with other operators on all related activities that impact operations. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Comply with all safety rules and regulations.
• Maintain familiarity with fire equipment within the designated area.
• Understand plant P&IDs, SOPs, work instructions, operation and control logics, emergency operation procedures, and other relevant documentation.
• Monitor all unit parameters and record periodic readings on log sheets.
• Summarize all activities and events that occurred during the shift in the log book.
• Follow instructions from the Shift Charge Engineer and Shift Supervisor, coordinating with other operators on all activities.
• Remain alert and take prompt action during abnormal operating conditions.
• Coordinate and ensure Lock Out & Tag Out procedures are followed during equipment isolation for maintenance, as per the approved Permit To Work procedure.
• Normalize equipment after cancellation when instructed.
• Inspect the unit and auxiliaries during the shift to ensure all equipment parameters are within limits.
• Report abnormalities to the Shift Supervisor / SCE.
• Perform periodic protection tests under the supervision of SCE/Supervisor and maintain accurate records.
• Execute equipment changeovers according to preset schedules.
• Raise work requests or defect notes for faulty equipment and follow up on defect rectification.
• Assist in the training and familiarization of new operators.
• Report near misses and implement prescribed risk controls.
• Report deviations in the Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental Management System.
• Ensure proper waste disposal measures are followed.
• Perform other assigned duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a similar control room or plant operations role.
• Demonstrated ability to monitor and control complex operational parameters.
• Proficiency in understanding and applying plant P&IDs, SOPs, and emergency procedures.

Required Skills

• Strong observational skills and attention to detail for parameter monitoring.
• Ability to take quick and effective actions during abnormal operating conditions.
• Excellent coordination and communication skills for interacting with other operators and supervisors.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Saudi Arabia, requiring active participation in plant operations and adherence to shift schedules. The role involves working closely with a team of operators and engineers to ensure efficient and safe plant functionality.
