HSSE Supervisor

About the Role

ACWA Power is seeking an HSSE Supervisor to support the implementation, monitoring, and enforcement of Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) activities within the plant. This full-time role involves taking necessary actions to prevent harm to people, equipment, and the environment, while ensuring compliance with legal requirements, organizational standards, and contractual obligations. The position requires 3-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide support in assessing risks and reviewing key operational activities to identify and prevent HSSE hazards.
• Attend meetings with contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors to advise on HSSE management and performance, ensuring adherence to defined standards.
• Assist in implementing the Plant’s HSSE management system, including emergency preparedness, to conform to ACWA NOMAC standards and legal requirements.
• Conduct daily site HSSE tours, monitoring performance and compliance with HSSE policies and procedures.
• Develop daily and monthly HSSE reports, highlighting incidents, concerns, and issues for timely escalation and resolution.
• Support the implementation of the work permit system, ensuring proper measures are taken before work commencement to maintain safe work areas.
• Assist in delivering HSSE training to ensure employees and contractor staff are aware of HSSE standards and management systems.
• Advise contractors on HSSE standards to promote awareness and best practices.
• Assist in implementing HSSE campaigns to disseminate proper HSSE culture across all staff.
• Maintain positive working relationships with regulators, emergency services, contractors, and local authorities to ensure mutual support and compliance.
• Assist in developing emergency drill scenarios and conducting site emergency mock drills to check readiness.
• Report and respond immediately to HSSE incidents using established communication channels to minimize damages.
• Participate in investigations for reportable HSSE incidents, contributing to root cause identification and recommending corrective actions.
• Monitor PPE inventory, raise purchase requests, and follow up to ensure timely availability of required goods.
• Adhere to all relevant organizational and departmental policies, processes, and procedures.
• Contribute to identifying and implementing change initiatives, programs, and projects.

Qualifications and Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in a relevant HSSE role.
• Demonstrated ability to support HSSE implementation and enforcement activities.
• Understanding of legal requirements, organizational standards, and contractual obligations related to HSSE.

Communication and Working Relationships

Internally, the HSSE Supervisor will work closely with colleagues in the maintenance and operations departments, ensuring coordination with other departments across the plant organization, particularly maintenance and HSE. Externally, the role involves coordination with local stakeholders and grid operators.
