Process Automation System SME

About the Role

Wood (KSA) is seeking a Process Automation System SME to serve as the Technical Authority across its portfolio of energy, oil & gas, mining, industrial, and infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves providing technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from proposals to commissioning.

Role Purpose and Scope

The successful candidate will act as the highest level of technical authority within their discipline, offering specialist expertise and ensuring engineering excellence. This role is crucial for strengthening technical governance and supporting the delivery of safe, innovative, and high-quality engineering solutions across various projects. The SME will also contribute to business development and build relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical strategy for DCS, SIS, SCADA, and integrated automation systems.
• Act as the Technical Authority across multiple projects.
• Lead technical reviews during Concept, FEED, and Detailed Design phases.
• Perform independent design assurance and peer reviews.
• Resolve complex engineering challenges and provide specialist guidance.
• Support proposals, client workshops, and business development activities.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to the development of technical capability within teams.
• Develop and maintain engineering standards and best practices.

Qualifications and Experience

• A recognized industry expert in Process Automation Systems.
• Proven track record of over 10 years of experience in solving complex engineering challenges.
• Demonstrated ability to influence clients and mentor engineering teams.
• Experience in driving technical excellence across major international projects.

Professional Development

In addition to project support, the SME will contribute to technical assurance, establish and maintain technical standards, and support the continuous development of engineering teams.
