About the Role

Saudi Aramco is seeking a Business Development Specialist to join the Downstream Transaction Development Department. This full-time role involves leading the execution of complex and high-value transactions within the downstream business, including overseeing due diligence, valuation methodologies, deal structuring, and strategic negotiations. The specialist will also guide internal teams and external advisors while maintaining relationships with stakeholders and partners.

Department Overview

The Downstream Growth and Development (DG&D) division is responsible for implementing Saudi Aramco's downstream growth strategy. This includes identifying profitable investment opportunities, managing mergers & acquisitions (M&A), and forming joint venture partnerships across integrated refining and petrochemicals, marketing, retail, lubricants, and other downstream business areas. The Downstream Transaction Development Department (DTDD) specifically executes approved transactions by managing due diligence, identifying synergies, mitigating risks, structuring deals, and conducting negotiations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of complex and high-value transactions, including due diligence work streams, valuation analysis, deal negotiation, and the execution of definitive documents.
  • Prepare for and conduct negotiations to ensure deals align with Saudi Aramco's offers, investor expectations, and set parameters.
  • Coordinate efforts across internal teams and external advisors to ensure strategic alignment for transactions.
  • Provide detailed updates and insights to management, focusing on project impact and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Identify and mitigate risks throughout the transaction lifecycle.
  • Ensure smooth integration following transaction closure.
  • Lead efforts to formulate resource and funding plans to transition business proposals from concept to closed deals.
  • Participate in creating the commercial, financial, and technical frameworks for deals.
  • Lead the evaluation of business opportunities, including the application of various valuation techniques and methodologies.
  • Define the scope of required due diligence, coordinate due diligence activities, present valuation and due diligence results, and lead the development of commercial agreements.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members to foster their growth and ensure high-quality deliverables.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 12 years of professional experience in downstream business development is required, with a strong track record in technical, economic, and commercial aspects of downstream businesses such as refining, petrochemicals, marketing (wholesale & retail), lubricants, logistics, and storage.
  • Deep understanding of associated operations, optimization, and value-chain integration within the downstream sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in navigating and influencing complex internal stakeholder groups and negotiating with prospective partners and service providers to achieve successful business outcomes.
  • Experience in executing term sheets and definitive agreements typical in downstream transactions, along with managing post-transaction integrations, setup, and readiness.
  • Adequate understanding of financial analysis of companies, valuation methodologies, commercial principles of transactions, and different types of transactions.

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis and valuation techniques.
