Role Overview

Ma'aden is seeking an Engineer, Geotechnical to join its team. This full-time role involves supporting geotechnical engineering activities within mining operations. The successful candidate will contribute to managing ground conditions, hazards, and risks by conducting investigations, collecting and testing data, and providing technical input for analysis and design. The position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field investigations and surveys, including geological mapping, soil sampling, rock core logging, and groundwater monitoring, to assess ground conditions and identify potential hazards and risks.
  • Perform in-situ and laboratory tests on soil and rock samples using specialized equipment and techniques to determine geotechnical properties and behavior.
  • Maintain and calibrate geotechnical equipment and instrumentation to ensure accurate and reliable monitoring data.
  • Analyze and interpret geotechnical data, encompassing slope stability, rock mass characterization, and groundwater modeling.
  • Contribute to the development of design recommendations and risk assessments based on geotechnical findings.
  • Provide technical support for slope stability assessments, foundation design, mine waste management, ground control measures, and the development of mitigation solutions.
  • Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, technical documents, presentations, figures, charts, and diagrams to effectively communicate findings and recommendations.

Collaboration and Compliance

  • Collaborate with geotechnical engineers, mining engineers, and environmental specialists to integrate geotechnical considerations into mine planning, design, and operations.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines applicable to geotechnical activities.

Professional Development and Improvement

  • Provide training and mentorship to junior technicians, interns, and field assistants on geotechnical techniques, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
  • Maintain awareness of current industry practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements relevant to geotechnical engineering.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of geotechnical processes and standards within the company.

Required Experience

Candidates should possess 2 to 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, preferably within a mining context or a related heavy industry. This experience should demonstrate proficiency in field investigations, data analysis, and technical reporting as outlined in the responsibilities above.
