Engineering Manager

About the Role

St. Regis is seeking an Engineering Manager to oversee all engineering and maintenance operations. This full-time role involves managing the building, grounds, and physical plant, with a focus on safety, security, and asset protection. The manager will be responsible for budget management, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the physical plant, including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with facility regulations and safety standards.
• Control heat, light, and power, and recommend best practices for energy conservation and economical facility operations.
• Develop specifications for service contracts and administer them to support building needs.
• Distribute preventive maintenance and repair work orders, monitoring timeliness and quality of completion.
• Oversee the maintenance of grounds, guestrooms, public spaces, restaurants, property vehicles, and recreational facilities.
• Develop and execute a long-term plan for preventative maintenance and asset protection.
• Develop project plans for renovation or new construction needs.
• Contact contractors for bids and supervise construction to ensure timely completion within budgetary guidelines.
• Build positive relationships with external customers, such as city building/zoning departments, fire prevention bureaus, and vendors.
• Ensure the fire crew has a complete understanding of all procedures, equipment, and alarms.
• Perform monthly property inspections to ensure buildings and grounds are maintained in excellent condition.
• Conduct guest room and common area inspections to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of facilities to determine required work.
• Recommend or arrange for additional services such as painting, repair work, renovations, and the replacement of furnishings and equipment.
• Select, order, or purchase new equipment, supplies, and furnishings.
• Manage parts and equipment inventory.

Property Standards and Compliance

• Ensure building and equipment licenses and certifications are current.
• Maintain property life safety systems, including firefighting equipment, sprinkler systems, and alarm systems.

Customer Service Leadership

• Demonstrate leadership in guest hospitality, exemplifying excellent customer service and fostering a positive atmosphere for guest relations.
• Review comment cards, guest satisfaction results, and other data to identify areas for improvement.
• Share plans with property leadership and ensure corrective action is taken to continuously improve guest satisfaction.
• Strive to improve service performance across all operations.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience in engineering or maintenance management, demonstrating a strong understanding of facility operations and regulatory requirements. The role requires leadership capabilities, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high property standards.
