About the Role

Saudi Aramco is seeking an LNG Economist to join the Strategy & Business Development Division (SBDD) within the Gas Venture Department. This full-time role involves supporting the commercial business development team in the economic evaluation of LNG projects, including plant investment and offtake trading for investment decision-making. The position requires engagement with support functions such as Treasury, Group Finance, and Strategy & Market Analysis for model sign-off and due diligence processes.

The Gas Venture Department

The Strategy & Business Development Division (SBDD) is responsible for identifying and developing international gas value chain investment opportunities, encompassing upstream, liquefaction, marketing, and regasification. The division coordinates the execution of these investments and manages them post-transaction, with the objective of establishing an integrated global gas business by 2035.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct economic and financial modeling for potential joint ventures and mergers and acquisitions, primarily in LNG and Upstream opportunities, on both unlevered and levered bases.
  • Manage complex deal structures, including the development and interpretation of data within a highly technical and confidential analysis platform.
  • Provide investment analysis advice for LNG and Upstream M&A deals, leading economic evaluations and financial due diligence.
  • Offer professional and technical expertise for analyzing and resolving complex problems across financial modeling and economic analysis.
  • Validate and review seller’s models for Upstream and LNG opportunities, identifying issues and recommending solutions.
  • Analyze and articulate economic value drivers to management.
  • Prepare variance analysis of economic assumptions and high-level technical inputs with functional engagement support.
  • Support the preparation of management presentations for deal progression through the stage gate process.
  • Assist in formulating and implementing economic analysis policies and procedures to prevent or resolve problems and follow up on changes.
  • Ensure company standards and processes are reflected in capital project progression, project evaluations, and business/environment analysis through the stage gate process.
  • Train and develop junior professional analysts.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or Business is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 years of related financial modeling work experience is essential, preferably within an investment banking environment or a major petrochemical or energy industry corporation.
  • Experience with Economic Evaluations, Cash Flow & Variance Analysis, structured finance, project finance, and/or financial modeling is required.
  • Ability to conduct Monte-Carlo stochastic risk analysis and VB Excel modeling.
  • Demonstrated capability to establish credibility and interact effectively with all levels of management, including senior leadership.
  • Ability to work effectively within a matrix organization and with multi-disciplinary teams.

Experience Required

Candidates should possess a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience for this role.
