Medical Physicist Senior

About the Role

Fakeeh Care Group is seeking a Medical Physicist Senior to join their team in Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves applying physics and technical skills to standard medical practice, specifically within the Radiotherapy department, to support the treatment of various diseases. The Medical Physicist Senior will be responsible for developing, testing, and evaluating specialized equipment and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and discuss radiotherapy treatment plans in collaboration with radiation oncologists and other staff.
• Cooperate closely with Radiation Oncologists to integrate technical results into patient reports.
• Train and advise junior medical physicists and radiation therapy technicians on new equipment and protocols to ensure best practices.
• Advise other health professionals, including radiotherapy technicians and nurses, on standard radiotherapy clinical practice.
• Discuss and negotiate with Radiation Oncologists to determine optimal radiotherapy techniques and planning for patients, aligning with the latest evidence-based practices.
• Process complex patient images for radiotherapy planning verification treatment.
• Act as the on-call physicist, providing advice and technical assistance for problems as needed.
• Research new developments and techniques in radiotherapy practice based on evidence and review existing local practices.
• Advise on the procurement of new equipment and assist in initiating necessary changes.
• Commission new equipment or upgrade existing equipment to achieve current best practices.
• Monitor equipment periodically to ensure consistent output and regular recommended maintenance.
• Develop and ensure the implementation of policies for operating equipment.
• Establish and implement radiation safety policies and procedures in the radiotherapy department, as guided by standard of care and local authorities.
• Provide quality control for all radiation therapy equipment.
• Perform dosimetry for radiotherapy machines.
• Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatments, and preventative measures when applicable.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience is required for this role.
• Demonstrated ability to apply physics and technical skills in a medical context.
• Experience in developing, testing, and evaluating specialized equipment and procedures in radiotherapy.
