About the Role

King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz University Hospital is seeking an OB/GYNE Assistant Consultant for a full-time position. This role involves providing patient care and contributing to clinical, administrative, and educational activities within the Obstetrics & Gynecology department. Assistant Consultants are expected to uphold the hospital's mission, vision, values, and ethical standards.

Core Responsibilities

The Assistant Consultant will contribute to three key performance areas:

Clinical Duties: Assist Consultants by providing patient care in accordance with defined scope of services and privileges. This includes consultation services, follow-up care, performing procedures, and sharing on-call duties. Patient care is delivered across various settings such as outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, emergency rooms, and intensive care units.
Administrative Duties: Undertake administrative tasks as required, particularly in areas such as developing Clinical Management Guidelines, Clinical Pathways, and Evidence-Based Best Practices. This also includes participation in quality assurance and improvement activities like audits, peer reviews, and Morbidity & Mortality rounds.
Education & Research: Participate in undergraduate and post-graduate teaching activities, provide regular teaching to team members, and engage in departmental educational activities such as Grand Rounds and Journal Clubs. The role also involves maintaining CME recertification requirements and participating in research activities with the goal of scientific publications.

Key Accountabilities

Practice patient care based on scientific evidence and up-to-date best practices under consultant supervision.
Adhere to KAAUH quality improvement initiatives and ensure a safe healing environment, complying with hospital accreditation requirements.
Empower patients and families to actively participate in their health and wellness, contributing to a positive patient experience.
Demonstrate accountability, appropriate resource utilization, and focus on efficient patient care processes.
Supervise residents, contribute to their professional development, and provide performance feedback.
Respect patients and their families to foster a patient-centered care culture.
Participate in and support quality improvement and patient safety activities.
Provide clear and understandable health-related information to patients.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position within King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz University Hospital. Clinical duties, including on-call responsibilities, are assigned equally and fairly among associate and consultant staff at the discretion of the Section Head and Chairman of Obstetrics & Gynecology, in compliance with hospital policies.
