QA/QC Engineer (MEP)

About the Role

SNC-Lavalin Fayez Engineering is seeking a QA/QC Engineer (MEP) for a full-time position. This role involves overseeing quality management systems, ensuring contract compliance, and managing inspection and testing activities across various construction projects, including high-rise residential, commercial, mixed-use, hospitality, and building infrastructure. The position requires strong technical expertise in building construction and leadership in implementing quality systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand the requirements of construction contracts, specifications, RFPs, and Tender Documents for building and high-rise projects.
• Prepare quality reports, inspection reports, audit findings, non-conformance reports (NCRs), corrective action reports (CARs), and technical correspondence.
• Monitor QA/QC aspects of civil, structural, architectural, and MEP construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, approved shop drawings, codes, and standards.
• Review and evaluate contractor and subcontractor Quality Management Systems (QMS), Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements, and Quality Control Procedures.
• Conduct surveillance inspections and audits to verify compliance with project requirements, ISO standards, and approved quality procedures.
• Review material submittals, technical data sheets, samples, mock-ups, and supplier qualifications.
• Ensure incoming materials, construction works, and completed installations conform to approved standards.
• Interpret drawings, specifications, BOQs, method statements, IFC drawings, technical standards, and local authority regulations.
• Conduct and document inspections for structural concrete works, reinforcement installation, steel structures, waterproofing, façade systems, architectural finishes, MEP installations, and fit-out works.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, testing laboratories, and suppliers for timely inspections and approvals.
• Monitor the implementation of corrective and preventive actions related to quality deficiencies and non-conformance reports.
• Lead internal and external quality audits and assess contractor compliance with project quality requirements and ISO 9001 standards.
• Participate in project meetings, providing updates on quality performance, issues, risks, and mitigation plans.
• Monitor testing activities for concrete, steel, soil, waterproofing, façade, fireproofing, and MEP systems.
• Review commissioning documentation and participate in pre-handover, snagging, and final acceptance inspections.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to QA/QC Engineers, Inspectors, and site teams.
• Assist in developing quality training programs, awareness initiatives, and lessons learned exercises.
• Maintain project quality records, inspection logs, test reports, material approvals, and audit documentation.
• Promote safe work practices and adherence to company HSE requirements during quality inspection activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the QA/QC Manager or Project Director.
