About Lucid Motors

Lucid Motors focuses on creating mobility experiences through innovation, leveraging proprietary technology and software-defined vehicle architecture. The company's vehicles are designed to combine range, performance, design, and space. Lucid achieves this through vertical integration, with design, engineering, and production managed in-house across global offices and manufacturing facilities.

The Role of Robotics Engineer, PWT

The Robotics Engineer, PWT, supports robot commissioning, programming, recovery, and tooling integration within the AMP-2 Powertrain robotic cells. This full-time role involves working with FANUC, ABB, and KUKA cells from initial commissioning through volume ramp-up. The position requires a hands-on approach to ensure robot uptime, optimize cycle time, and maintain safety compliance. Candidates should have 2-5 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform robot integration, commissioning, teaching, and programming for FANUC, ABB, and KUKA systems.
  • Support offline programming and simulation activities.
  • Maintain and optimize robots to maximize throughput throughout the asset's lifecycle.
  • Diagnose robot faults, including encoder, drive, cables, controller, and program issues.
  • Support production recovery events, such as robot resynchronization and program restoration.
  • Conduct structured Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring robot failures.
  • Support end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) design reviews, integration, and change management, and troubleshoot EOAT issues.
  • Support robot safety validation activities, ensuring safety configurations, light curtains, and interlocks are maintained and validated.
  • Enforce High Voltage (HV) Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), HVIL continuity, and mandatory HV Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for all work on or near EV Powertrain equipment.
  • Comply with SASO, IEC 60204, and functional safety standards (ISO 13849 / IEC 62061).
  • Support HV emergency response, including thermal runaway isolation and battery-related incident procedures, and achieve/maintain HV safety competency.
  • Support AMP-2 Safe Launch activities, run-at-rate events, and capacity verification.
  • Contribute to Launch Readiness Reviews, Layered Process Audits, and Process Confirmation routines.
  • Participate in Quality Rapid Response Control (QRQC) / Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) escalations during launch and ramp-up phases.
  • Develop maintainable robot programs, frames, TCPs, payload data, zones, mastering, backups, and recovery standards; validate path accuracy and cycle repeatability.
  • Integrate EOAT, vision, conveyors, safety PLC handshakes, process equipment, and Manufacturing Execution System (MES)/traceability signals; confirm failure-mode recovery and restart behavior.
  • Execute reach, collision, singularity, and cycle-time studies using RoboGuide, RobotStudio, or *****, and verify results on equipment.
  • Maintain controlled robot/EOAT backups, revision history, spare strategy, and preventive-maintenance inputs.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Test (FAT)/Site Acceptance Test (SAT), commissioning, equipment acceptance, Safe Launch, run-at-rate, and capacity verification with objective evidence and disciplined punch-list closure.
  • Control production, process, software, and test changes through documented risk assessment, approvals, validation, revision history, and rollback or containment planning.
  • Participate in readiness reviews, Layered Process Audits, Process Confirmation, and QRQC/RCCA; close assigned actions with verified effectiveness.
  • Apply role-specific HV LOTO/HVIL, machine safety, stored-energy isolation, electrical safe-work, and PPE requirements; never bypass safety devices or product protections.
  • Protect product genealogy, calibrated-tool status, test/measurement integrity, document control, and audit-ready objective evidence.
  • Comply with applicable AMP-2, SASO, Saudi labor/Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), IATF 16949, IEC 60204, and functional-safety requirements within the assigned scope.
  • Build Saudi national capability through structured On-the-Job Training (OJT), skills matrices, practical assessment, certification, cross-training, and documented knowledge transfer.
  • Create technical standards, troubleshooting guides, and training material.
  • Collaborate across Production, Quality, Maintenance, Automation/Robotics, Manufacturing Engineering, EHS, IT/OT, MES, Supply Chain, Product Engineering, and suppliers.

Experience and Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in robotics engineering.
  • Proficiency in robot integration, commissioning, teaching, and programming for FANUC, ABB, and KUKA systems.
  • Experience with offline programming and simulation activities.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve robot faults.
  • Familiarity with end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) design, integration, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of robot safety validation activities and compliance with relevant safety standards.
  • Understanding of High Voltage (HV) safety protocols, including LOTO, HVIL continuity, and PPE requirements.
  • Competency in HV emergency response procedures.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing launch activities, run-at-rate events, and capacity verification.
  • Ability to develop and maintain robot programs, frames, TCPs, payload data, zones, mastering, backups, and recovery standards.
  • Skills in integrating various components such as vision systems, conveyors, safety PLCs, process equipment, and MES/traceability signals.
  • Proficiency with simulation software like RoboGuide, RobotStudio, or ***** for reach, collision, singularity, and cycle-time studies.
  • Experience with change control processes for production, process, software, and test changes.
  • Adherence to IATF 16949, IEC 60204, and functional-safety requirements.
