Senior Lead Estimator

About the Role

UrbaCon Contracting & Trading Company is seeking a Senior Lead Estimator to join their team. This full-time position involves generating and managing construction cost estimates, valuing engineering work, and developing budgets. The role provides essential estimates, budget control, and studies for both current and potential projects during the business development, pre-construction, and construction phases, covering all scopes, systems, and assemblies.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure efficient relationships with suppliers and sub-contractors to obtain competitive pricing information for estimating purposes.
• Lead the development of schematic cost model estimates, utilizing historical benchmarking information and industry experience to forecast detailed cost estimates.
• Review tender documentation to identify ambiguities, risks, and key issues for consideration by the tender team.
• Prepare sound, consistent data for profitable tendering, including estimates of man-hours, equipment, subcontractors, and material costs.
• Prepare cost reconciliations between multiple estimates and explain variance cost drivers.
• Handle inquiries and provide information related to tendering and estimating processes.
• Provide comparisons of Contractor’s pricing against benchmarked historical data and current market pricing.
• Maintain the highest level of commercial confidentiality in all aspects of employment.

Required Activities and Support

• Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
• Support and assist the Estimation Manager in the process of quantity take-offs, both manually and digitally, from tender documents and drawings.
• Coordinate with the client on all changes in scope, questions, or clarifications regarding the work during the bidding process.
• Conduct site inspections for tender understanding, analysis of conditions, assessment of risk, and identification of activities that may or may not be shown in tender documents.
• Review budget and project profitability status and goals with supervision and the project team as required.
• Seek input on corrective measures to continuously improve the identification and accuracy of cost figures.
• Liaise with the Engineering Team on the design element of design and construct tenders and provide temporary works support for tenders.
• Undertake comprehensive reviews of Contractor’s estimate submissions, change requests, and bids, including pricing clarifications, assumptions, terms, and conditions.

Experience Requirements

Candidates should possess 8 years of relevant experience in estimation within the construction industry.
