About the Role

Principal Buyer | Saudi Power Procurement Company is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to manage and coordinate interfaces for Renewable and Conventional Independent Power Producer (IPP) projects during the implementation phase. This full-time role is based in Saudi Arabia and requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Role Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to oversee the implementation of IPP projects by managing and coordinating all associated interfaces. This includes monitoring interface engineering and studies, ensuring compliance with project agreements and technical specifications, and reporting on portfolio-level risks. The Senior Project Engineer will also develop and implement mitigating plans and corrective measures for any emerging issues or discrepancies within the project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate project implementation interfaces with relevant stakeholders.
• Participate in site visits, project review meetings, and technical discussions to assess implementation progress.
• Oversee and monitor the progress of engineering activities related to project interfaces and grid studies.
• Facilitate effective communication and resolution of interface issues among stakeholders.
• Identify risks associated with interfaces that may impact project implementation schedules.
• Recommend mitigation measures and corrective actions in coordination with relevant departments.
• Assist in evaluating interface-related claims, delays, or disputes involving project stakeholders.
• Track the progress of interface activities against the project implementation schedule.
• Prepare periodic reports and presentations on the status of interface activities and approvals.
• Manage project agreements and follow up on work completion according to requirements, specifications, and implementation plans.
• Oversee and follow up on project activities as per contracts and agreements to ensure alignment with all technical specifications.
• Conduct proactive site inspections to ensure project implementation is in accordance with the schedule.
• Ensure that the power plant has provided required approvals and complies with Grid Code requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Holding any Project professional certificates is a plus.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the power generation/transmission sector with relevant exposure to IPP projects.
• Experience in IPP project development, engineering, project implementation, and grid interconnection activities.
• Experience working with EPC contractors, project developers, and utilities is preferred.

• Ability to review technical documentation, engineering reports, and project schedules.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
