Senior Technical Engineer

About the Role

UrbaCon Contracting & Trading Company is seeking a Senior Technical Engineer for a full-time position. This role is responsible for the design management of various projects, including residential, commercial, warehouse, and industrial buildings. The Senior Technical Engineer will ensure the appropriateness of structural systems and the correctness of design criteria proposed by consultants, providing direction to ensure complete submission of structural deliverables within project schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and configure basic structural components to ensure design quality.
• Review design criteria, including basic structural components, geotechnical properties, wind loads, seismic loads, and fire protection, to ensure design adequacy.
• Analyze structural elements and review loading plans, ensuring compliance with codes and the project's operational purpose.
• Determine pressures on structural components from human use or environmental factors.
• Study the impact of temporary works (formwork, tower crane foundations and supports) on structural elements, providing calculations and details.
• Liaise with designers, including architects, to agree on safe designs that align with the aesthetic concept of the project.
• Provide safe structural solutions to meet architectural and MEP requirements.
• Coordinate and oversee all onsite material testing, ensuring compliance with specifications and codes.
• Ensure weekly reports detailing progress of material requirements and areas of concern/delay.
• Ensure accurate preparation of all shop drawings and subsequent as-built drawings.
• Manage the close-out of technical and material submittals, ensuring all required material submittals are prepared in advance.
• Lead and support teams in enhancing competencies through effective coaching and mentoring.
• Support the implementation of HSE initiatives, participate in safety awareness activities, and contribute to incident reporting and resolution in alignment with company policies.

Design Management and Coordination

This role involves reviewing structural designs, initiating value engineering exercises, and identifying potential design and construction issues early in the project lifecycle. The Senior Technical Engineer will also manage the documentation of structural drawings in coordination with architectural and MEP works.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 8 years of working experience.
• At least 5 years of relevant working experience.
• 2 years of GCC experience is preferred.
