The European Union Border Assistance Mission in Libya (EUBAM Libya) is a civilian mission under the EU's Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), established on May 22, 2013. Its objective is to support the Libyan authorities in improving and developing the security of the country's land, sea, and air borders, and to develop a broader Integrated Border Management (IBM) strategy. The mission works to build capacity and provide advice, training, and mentoring to Libyan counterparts to strengthen border services in accordance with international standards and best practices, and to combat cross-border crime, including human trafficking and migrant smuggling, and counter-terrorism.
