About the Cardiovascular Technician Role

Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) is seeking a Cardiovascular Technician to join its team in Al-Ahsa. This full-time role involves performing a variety of technical and non-technical functions within the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (CCL), supporting both in-patient and out-patient services. The position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience and involves specialized therapeutic, technical, and diagnostic procedures using complex equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Activate, operate, and troubleshoot a wide range of CCL equipment, including radiographic units, hemodynamic monitors, digital subtraction angiography units, pacemaker programmers, contrast power injectors, and patient monitoring equipment.
• Perform diagnostic and interventional CCL procedures in adherence to evidence-based practices and established policies, utilizing proper exposure factors and acquisition programming.
• Ensure strict compliance with radiation safety and protection guidelines at all times.
• Function as a scrub assistant during CCL procedures and monitor patient cardiac rhythm and hemodynamic values using hemodynamic monitoring.
• Assist CCL staff during patient resuscitation efforts and support patient preparation, movement, monitoring, and transportation before, during, and immediately following procedures.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, ensuring permanent storage of all CCL procedures on CDR or archiving devices, and generating CD copies for referral patients as requested.
• Manage CCL supply inventory, coordinate timely ordering and delivery with Supply Chain, and arrange equipment maintenance and repair with Clinical Engineering.
• Participate in the Cath Lab's Quality Program and Safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and policies.
• Implement new practice protocols as directed and report/follow up on discrepancies in cases to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) for correction.

• Immediately bring abnormal findings to the attention of the Senior Cardiovascular Tech, Cardiologist, and the team.
• Maintain continuing education and attend workshops relevant to new CCL equipment, procedures, and techniques.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: High School (12 years schooling) combined with a 2-year Diploma/Associate Degree in Cardiovascular or Radiology Technology. A Bachelor's of Science degree in Cardiac Technology is preferred.
• Experience: A minimum of 2 years of work experience as a Cardiovascular Technician in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, including completion of a Cardiovascular Technology internship program.
• Certifications: Preferred certifications include Cardiac-Interventional (CI), Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), or Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES). Candidates must meet the requirements of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties / Ministry Of Health.

Required Skills

• Working knowledge of spoken and written English.
• Basic computer skills are desirable.
• Spoken Arabic is desirable.
• Demonstrated competency and current knowledge of all aspects of cardiac catheterization laboratory procedures and protocols.

Work Environment and Reporting Structure

This role operates under the direct supervision of a Senior Cardiovascular Technician and the overall direction of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Lead. The position involves routine daily contact with CCL unit staff, Clinical Engineering, CSS, hospital, clinic, and auxiliary medical personnel, as well as frequent interaction with clinicians and patients. While work is generally during normal hours, the role includes on-call duties and may require shift work. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating complex maintenance with the Clinical Engineering Unit.
