About the Unit Assistive Personal (UAP) Role

Almoosa Health Group is seeking a dedicated Unit Assistive Personal (UAP) to join its team in Al-Ahsa, Eastern Province. This full-time role is integral to supporting patient care and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment within the hospital.

Role Purpose and Impact

The Unit Assistive Personal plays a crucial role in direct patient interaction, assisting with daily needs, and performing various non-clinical support tasks. This position is essential for maintaining smooth hospital operations and contributing to a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain occupied and unoccupied patient beds.
  • Escort and transport patients to and from diagnostic, treatment, and other service areas, including upon discharge.
  • Assist clinical nurses with patient hygiene, including bathing and repositioning.
  • Support patients with ambulation and movement to the bathroom.
  • Respond promptly to patient calls and immediately inform the responsible nurse of patient needs.
  • Transport blood and other samples to the laboratory.
  • Serve meal trays and assist patients with feeding as required.
  • Inform visitors about hospital visiting hours in accordance with policy.
  • Conduct hourly patient rounds as per departmental policy.
  • Provide translation assistance for non-Arabic speaking staff, if competent in English, to facilitate communication with patients and families.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure the security of health records during transport and delivery.
  • Ensure the safety, dignity, and comfort of patients, including appropriate coverage, while being transported in wheelchairs.
  • Transport medications between the pharmacy and nursing units.
  • Perform other assigned non-clinical, non-patient care, and messenger duties, such as cleaning medical equipment, photocopying documents, and organizing the patient environment.

  • Adhere to established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain awareness of infection control and safety protocols, initiating corrective action when necessary.
  • Report any observed abnormalities to the Charge Nurse or Nurse Manager.
  • Participate in fire and disaster drills and mock codes.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and family information.
  • Utilize verbal and nonverbal communication that conveys respect for patients, families, visitors, and staff.
  • Maintain an acceptable standard of attendance and punctuality.
  • Comply with the departmental dress code.
  • Attend and actively participate in department monthly meetings and nursing forums.
  • Contribute to unit activities and projects.
  • Provide care and support with dignity, compassion, and respect.

  • Proficient, effective, and compassionate communication skills.
  • Competency in English is required for translation duties.
