About the Role

CemServ is seeking a Mechanical Drafter to join its team in Al Khobar, Eastern, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is central to preparing accurate, standardized, and production-ready engineering drawings and documentation for a range of industrial equipment. The successful candidate will ensure all outputs align precisely with manufacturing capabilities, company standards, and specific project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings, including shop, general arrangement (GA), fabrication, and assembly drawings.
• Model and detail various mechanical components and structures, such as belt conveyors (rollers, pulleys, shafts), steel structures (frames, supports, platforms, walkways), mobile conveyors, stackers, hoppers, chutes, and material handling systems.
• Generate and maintain accurate Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Maintain the drawing numbering system and revision control.
• Verify input data, including sketches, specifications, and calculations, before commencing drafting work.
• Prepare plate developments and detailing specifically for fabrication.
• Update drawings based on feedback from the shop floor or site, creating as-built documentation.
• Identify discrepancies in designs and report them to the Design Engineer.
• Suggest improvements for fabrication efficiency, weight reduction, and cost optimization.
• Conduct physical site visits to obtain accurate dimensions of existing structures and conveyor layouts prior to new drawing development.
• Prepare nesting layouts for plate cutting to minimize material waste.

Technical Skills and Expertise

• Proficiency in CAD software, specifically AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Strong understanding of drafting standards, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) basics, and welding symbols.
• Knowledge of fabrication practices for steel and mechanical components.
• Ability to manage file exports for CNC plasma or laser cutting machines.

Collaboration and Support

• Coordinate with the Design Engineer for design clarification and issue resolution.
• Collaborate with the Production team to ensure the manufacturability of steel and mechanical components.
• Support the Procurement department by aligning Bill of Materials (BOM) with required materials (plates, sections, mechanical parts).
• Assist the Quality Control (QC) team by providing necessary inspection and fabrication drawings.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical drafting, preferably within the heavy equipment or material handling industry. A strong technical background and meticulous attention to detail are essential for success in this position.
