Assistant Resident Engineer Ras al Khair

About the Role

Bechtel Corporation is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer for its operations in Ras al Khair, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is based in Al Khobar and Al Jubail, within the Eastern Province. The role involves supervising and directing field construction operations within an assigned discipline or area, ensuring compliance with project specifications, schedules, and budgets.

Project Overview: Jubail Industrial City

Bechtel has managed the Jubail project in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province since the mid-1970s. Saudi Arabian Bechtel Company (SABCO) serves as the Management Services Contractor (MSC) for the Royal Commission, acting as the owner's representative. The project involves managing design submissions from local architect/engineering firms and overseeing construction work by local contractors and sub-contractors in Jubail and Ras Al-Khair Industrial Cities. The contract was renewed in June 2026 for another five years, focusing on new residential communities, iconic buildings/bridges, major site preparation, commercial buildings, mosques, schools, hospitals, sports facilities, clinics, universities, utility services and infrastructure, roads and highways, and port and pipeline expansions.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct field construction operations within the assigned discipline or area.
• Determine contractor's workforce requirements and coordinate established area operational plans.
• Monitor work activities and ensure the quality of work performed meets standards.
• Verify that the most current design document is used and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
• Prepare daily reports and forecasts, including construction progress, contractor personnel forecasts, and expenditure forecasts.
• Monitor tool usage on site, review Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables, and ensure crafts have necessary tools for productivity.
• Monitor subcontractor activities to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
• Implement client/project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned operations.
• Coordinate activities with other disciplines or areas and client's resident representatives, as instructed by construction management.
• Conduct employee reviews and identify training and development opportunities for subordinate personnel.
• Ensure compliance with client, Bechtel, and local/national safety codes, requirements, and standards within the assigned area.
• Incorporate the Zero Accident Philosophy into all aspects of construction operations and actively participate in scheduled safety meetings.
• Implement Six Sigma tools, analysis, and decision-making in the execution of duties.

Qualifications and Experience

• Candidates should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in a supervisory capacity within field construction.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct contractor activities and subordinate personnel.
• Proven experience in ensuring construction operations and subcontractor performance comply with specifications, schedules, and budgets.
• Familiarity with general functions inherent in supervisory field positions.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position located in Al Khobar and Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia, within the Eastern Province. The role involves working on large-scale civil engineering projects as part of the Bechtel Corporation team.
