The Role of Area Head, MPL

As the Area Head of Maersk Project Logistics (MPL) for the Saudi Arabia Area, based in Dammam, Eastern, you will be accountable for the operational performance and profitable growth within your defined Area/Cluster. This full-time role involves leading operations and business development teams to ensure service excellence, execute global standards, and drive commercial opportunities. You will own the P&L for your scope and report to the Regional Head of MPL - IMEA.

Leadership and Team Management

• Lead Area/Cluster operations and business development teams, including managers, specialists, and execution staff.
• Build team capabilities, drive performance management, and foster a strong team culture.

Operational Execution and Excellence

• Ensure end-to-end execution quality, service delivery, compliance, and adherence to QHSE standards.
• Monitor operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), identify root causes of issues, and implement timely recovery actions.
• Oversee resource planning, workload distribution, and the effective utilisation of tools, platforms, and processes.
• Lead the implementation of new solutions, product updates, systems, and operational standards.

Commercial Development and Governance

• Drive Area/Cluster growth through opportunity qualification, pipeline support, and customer solutioning.
• Partner with the Area Leadership Team (LT) and Sales to retain and grow business through enhanced delivery, onboarding, and customer experience.
• Lead operational and commercial input into Requests for Proposals (RFPs), pricing strategies, and customer engagement.
• Own the Area/Cluster Profit & Loss (P&L) for the defined operational scope.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and forecasting in collaboration with regional leadership.
• Ensure adherence to global standards, policies, and processes, including compliance with QHSE policies.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, cycle-time reduction, and operational optimisation.

Stakeholder Alignment and Representation

• Act as the primary operational and commercial-enablement representative for the Area/Cluster.
• Ensure alignment across various functions including Product, Sales, Customer Experience (CX), Finance, Procurement, and Regional Operations.
• Represent the function in escalations, customer meetings, and strategic reviews.

This role is central to driving the strategic growth and operational excellence of Maersk Project Logistics within the Saudi Arabia Area.
