The Role: Appian QA & Automation Engineer

Code Ninja is seeking an Appian QA & Automation Engineer to manage quality assurance for Appian applications at a leading bank in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This full-time, onsite position in Riyadh requires a professional with over 10 years of experience in test engineering on Appian or comparable BPM/low-code platforms. The role involves developing test strategies and automation frameworks to ensure frequent, regression-free releases for critical banking workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the comprehensive test strategy, covering functional, integration, regression, UAT, performance, and security testing.
• Develop and maintain UI automation for Appian using tools such as the Appian Selenium API, FitNesse for Appian, or Cucumber-based frameworks.
• Automate API and integration tests for Appian Web APIs and downstream services, utilizing tools like Karate, REST Assured, or Postman/Newman.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, establishing quality gates prior to each deployment.
• Conduct performance and load testing using JMeter, Gatling, or Appian performance tooling to handle peak banking volumes.
• Validate role-based access, maker-checker controls, data masking, and audit logs.
• Manage test data and environments, ensuring compliance with PDPL for masked production-like data.
• Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with business users, track defects to resolution, and report quality metrics to delivery leadership.

Qualifications and Experience

• Over 10 years of experience in test engineering.
• Demonstrated experience with Appian or comparable Business Process Management (BPM) / low-code platforms.
• Proficiency in defining and implementing test strategies across various testing types.
• Experience with UI automation frameworks and tools (*, Selenium, FitNesse, Cucumber).
• Familiarity with API and integration testing tools (*, Karate, REST Assured, Postman/Newman).
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline integration and quality gate implementation.
• Experience with performance and load testing tools (*, JMeter, Gatling).
• Understanding of banking security controls, data privacy, and audit requirements.

Work Environment

This is an onsite, full-time position located in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The role is open to candidates of all nationalities.
