ML Research Scientist

About the Role

Think is seeking an ML Research Scientist to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position focuses on empirical research to understand and optimize model behavior on shared hardware, directly influencing the platform's functionality. The role involves asking critical questions that drive platform changes and translating research findings into actionable product improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments on real fleets, avoiding synthetic proxies.
• Investigate model behavior under various conditions, including co-location, quantization, adapter serving, and mixed-precision execution.
• Translate research findings into concrete decisions for the orchestration layer and collaborate with engineering teams for implementation.
• Document and publish internal research with the same rigor as external publications, detailing methods, data, and limitations.
• Ensure the team maintains an objective perspective on what research results genuinely support.
• Monitor relevant literature to distinguish validated findings from mere claims.

Qualifications and Requirements

• A doctorate or equivalent research experience in machine learning, systems, or a numerate discipline.
• Demonstrated experience running end-to-end experiments, including instrumentation.
• Strong proficiency in Python and comfort with reading and modifying model and serving code.
• The discipline to proactively identify and state limitations in research.

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Published work in areas such as efficiency, quantization, serving, or systems for machine learning.
• Experience with adapter methods, distillation, or mixture-of-experts serving.
• A proven track record of research that has been successfully implemented in products.
