About ABYAT and the Role

ABYAT, the largest retail store in the Middle East, is seeking a Projects Estimation Manager to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Established in September 2005, ABYAT operates an extensive retail space spanning 22,000 square meters and offers over 22,000 products, serving as a comprehensive destination for home improvement needs, including tiles, wallpapers, lighting, and kitchen fixtures. This full-time role is integral to supporting ABYAT's continued expansion across Saudi Arabia and into new markets such as Qatar and the UAE.

Role Purpose

The Projects Estimation Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire estimation and tendering process for ABYAT’s diverse projects. This includes projects involving building materials, finishes, furniture & kitchens, and doors & windows. The primary objective of this role is to ensure accurate cost estimation, develop competitive pricing strategies, and align all proposals with project requirements, thereby contributing to business growth through effective bid management and value engineering initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end tendering process, from initial Request for Proposal (RFP) review and scope validation (Bill of Quantities) to final bid submission.
• Conduct comprehensive reviews of project requirements, drawings, and specifications to perform go/no-go analyses in alignment with management objectives.
• Analyze project risks to incorporate appropriate pricing contingencies and identify cost-saving opportunities through value engineering.
• Develop detailed cost estimates and breakdown structures encompassing materials, labor, subcontracting, overheads, and risk.
• Prepare precise project budgets, ensuring all technical and commercial aspects align with target margins and profitability goals.
• Monitor market trends, material fluctuations, and labor costs to maintain accurate cost databases and benchmarking tools.
• Act as the central point of collaboration among the Technical, Execution, Supply Chain, and Commercial/Category teams to ensure scope completeness.
• Partner with the Commercial department to secure competitive vendor quotations and negotiate pricing and commercial terms as required.
• Lead and manage the estimation team, ensuring all departmental timelines and submission deadlines are met.
• Continuously improve estimation tools, templates, and processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
• Provide data-driven insights to support senior management in strategic pricing and commercial decisions.

Required Experience

Candidates for this position should possess 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in project estimation and tendering, preferably within the retail, construction, or home improvement sectors. The role requires demonstrated leadership capabilities and a proven track record in managing estimation processes and teams effectively.

This role demands strong collaborative skills, serving as a key liaison across multiple internal departments including Technical, Execution, Supply Chain, and Commercial. The Projects Estimation Manager will play a critical part in ensuring comprehensive project scope and will contribute strategically by providing data-driven insights that inform senior management's pricing and commercial decisions.
