About the Role

National Medical Care is seeking a Senior Registrar Obstetrics & Gynecology to join its dedicated team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is integral to providing high-quality medical care across our hospitals and clinics, including Riyadh Care Hospital.

Role Purpose and Professional Standards

The Senior Registrar is responsible for delivering comprehensive medical care to both outpatient and inpatient populations. This role requires maintaining a consistently high level of professional performance, strictly adhering to professional medical ethics, JCIA standards, hospital medical by-laws, and all applicable regulations set by the Ministry of Health in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in addition to departmental quality plans.

Key Clinical Responsibilities

• Ensure superior quality of medical treatment, compassion, and understanding for every patient.
• Manage minor and major gynecological cases under consultant supervision.
• Perform minor procedures such as Cryosurgery and IUD insertion.
• Investigate and manage infertility cases, including ovulation induction.
• Perform major operations under consultant supervision and minor operations like D&C and suction curettage.
• Conduct daily ward rounds for all in-patients, liaising with consultants regarding their care.
• Manage all low-risk obstetric cases and perform induction of labor.
• Perform instrumental deliveries (*, ventouse & forcep delivery) and LSCS with a consultant available on site.
• Manage high-risk antenatal cases (*, PET, APH), postnatal cases, and post-operative cases in conjunction with a consultant.
• Conduct history taking, physical examinations, interpret common diagnostic tests, and document patient conditions on admission.
• Seek advice or help from the consultant when a patient's condition requires further expertise.
• Serve as a member of the “Code Blue” team as directed.
• Actively participate in the department’s on-call rota for patient care and admissions, responding to emergencies within the specialty.
• Perform diagnostic or therapeutic procedures for patients within their field of specialty.
• Supervise Junior Staff in conducting their duties and responsibilities.
• Actively participate in the department’s educational and training activities, including teaching junior staff, interns, and medical students.
• Abide by department policies and procedures, as well as hospital by-laws, rules, and regulations.
• Carry out any other assignments as directed by the Head of Department, within their knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Patient and Family Education

• Educate patients and families according to their needs, implementing the patient/family education process as per policy and procedure, including documentation in medical records.
• Demonstrate knowledge of their essential role in patient and family education.
• Involve patients/families in the plan of care and respect their goals and choices.
• Provide health promotion and teaching through methods appropriate to a patient’s developmental level, learning needs, readiness and ability to learn, language preference, culture, and situations.
• Allot necessary time to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient education, with appropriate documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this position are required to have 5-10 years of relevant experience in Obstetrics & Gynecology. A strong foundation in clinical practice and a commitment to upholding medical standards are essential for success in this role.

Reporting and Collaborative Relationships

The Senior Registrar reports directly to the Head, Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. This role involves the supervision of Junior Staff and requires extensive collaboration with all physicians, nursing staff, other healthcare professionals, patients, and their families to ensure integrated and compassionate patient care.
