Area Director, Riyadh

Black & White Engineering is seeking an experienced Area Director to lead its Riyadh office in Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves leading one of the Middle East's Data Centre engineering teams, contributing to the delivery of advanced mission-critical facilities for global clients. The successful candidate will have over 10 years of relevant experience and will play a key role in the regional expansion and strategic direction of the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Drive profitable project delivery while maintaining technical and quality standards.
• Develop and execute the office business plan, aligning with regional objectives.
• Build long-term relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders across Saudi Arabia.
• Support business development, secure new work, and identify growth opportunities.
• Provide commercial oversight, including forecasting, project profitability, fee management, and risk mitigation.
• Ensure efficient project delivery through effective resource planning and utilisation.
• Lead recruitment, succession planning, and talent development to support continued growth.
• Promote innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence within the office.
• Represent Black & White Engineering with clients, industry bodies, and at professional events.

Candidate Requirements

• Significant experience leading multidisciplinary MEP engineering teams.
• A proven background in delivering large, complex building projects, preferably within Data Centres or mission-critical environments.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience managing project profitability, forecasting, and financial performance.
• Experience developing client relationships and contributing to business growth.
• Excellent leadership, coaching, and people development skills.
• Strong understanding of project governance, quality management, and risk management.
• Experience working across international projects and multidisciplinary teams.
• A degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status (or working towards Chartership) is desirable.
