The team comprises engineers, researchers, and vehicle specialists focused on deploying autonomous vehicles from testing to real-world applications.

Autonomous Vehicle Field Engineering Internship

Nero is seeking a Field Engineering Intern for a six-month internship in Riyadh. This is a hybrid role that involves monitoring autonomous vehicles during on-road and closed-course testing, as well as developing and maintaining the software and tooling for the fleet. This full-time, on-site position requires physical driving and testing of vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor autonomous vehicles during testing, serving as a trained safety driver prepared to take manual control.
Follow and contribute to refining test protocols, safety procedures, and pre-drive checklists.
Monitor vehicle behavior and system performance in real time, identifying, documenting, and reporting disengagements, edge cases, and anomalies.
Collect, log, and annotate data from test drives to support autonomy and engineering teams.
Assist in developing, testing, and maintaining vehicle software and internal tools, including logging pipelines, diagnostics dashboards, and fleet-monitoring/test-management tools.
Triage and reproduce issues, collaborating with software and autonomy engineers for debugging and resolution.
Support routine vehicle readiness tasks such as sensor checks, calibration, and basic diagnostics.
Contribute to code reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement of daily field procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

0-1 year of experience, suitable for an engineering student.
Ability to combine practical driving experience with software and systems work.
