About The Red Palace

The Role of Carpenter

Boutique Group is seeking a skilled Carpenter to join The Red Palace team in Riyadh. This full-time role involves operating, maintaining, and repairing all carpentry aspects of the Palace in accordance with Boutique Group standards. The Carpenter will work under the guidance of the Chief Engineer to ensure optimum operating efficiency and uphold the highest standards of workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs on furniture, fittings, curtain tracks, curtain rods, picture frames, and glasses as instructed.
  • Fabricate shelves, benches, doors, frames, picture hangings, stages, Gibson, GRC work, Aluminum, or equivalent materials.
  • Operate machine tools such as saws, routers, and planers, adhering strictly to safety instructions.
  • Install and repair all types of door locks (magnetic, mechanical, and equivalent).
  • Maintain cleanliness of the carpentry shop and all work areas, ensuring care and security of all tools.
  • Respond promptly to guest complaints and requests, providing courteous and professional service.
  • Complete personal daily job records and time books accurately for inspection.
  • Repair and fix ceiling tiles and plasterboard as required.
  • Maintain inventory of all knobs, locks, door hardware, and hinges.
  • Work with engineering staff to improve and maintain departmental operation standards.
  • Utilize dust sheets and protective equipment, ensuring job sites are left clean and tidy.
  • Ensure prior planning, arrangement, and communication with other departments for all tasks.
  • Execute duties in a timely and efficient manner to achieve overall objectives.
  • Inform and update the Chief Engineer or Director of Engineering on problems and unusual matters.
  • Cross-train in painting and polishing as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Associate’s technical degree in Civil Carpentry or a similar field, or equivalent experience of 6 years.
  • Must be locally authorized to work as a Carpentry technician.
  • A minimum of 4-6 years of direct experience in Hospitality Carpentry, civil work, and maintenance.
  • Entry-level training on BMS (Building Management System) and proficiency in utilizing control programs for troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
  • Familiarity with Palace management software and systems.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Arabic is preferred.
  • Local market experience is considered an asset.

Professional Conduct and Operational Standards

  • Report on duty punctually and maintain a well-groomed appearance.
  • Provide courteous and professional service at all times, maintaining good working relationships with colleagues and other departments.
  • Adhere to BG repair and maintenance policies, procedures, and SOPs.
  • Contribute to strategies for maximizing revenue, profitability, and cost control without compromising asset conditions.
  • Support the development and implementation of store and procurement strategies, and utility consumption control.
  • Ensure strict follow-up, completion, and update of R&M program requirements, including checklists, daily routine data collection, logbooks, and procurement processes.
  • Be responsible for predictive maintenance planning and implementation.
  • Attend meetings and training as required by the Chief Engineer, staying abreast of current industry technology.

Health, Safety, and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Use proper equipment, wear appropriate personal protective clothing (PPE), and employ correct lifting procedures to prevent injury.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment for guests and staff, conducting regular inspections and taking corrective actions for potential hazards.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and regulatory changes.
  • Demonstrate full awareness of chemical handling, Material Safety Data Sheet instructions, and precautions.
  • Fully understand and implement the Palace’s fire, emergency, and bomb procedures to ensure the security and safety of guests and employees.
