Civil Technical Support Engineer HV and EHV Substation and OHTL Projects

About the Role

Nesma Infrastructure and Technology (NIT) is seeking a Civil Technical Support Engineer to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role focuses on providing technical expertise and support for High Voltage (HV) and Extra High Voltage (EHV) substation and Overhead Transmission Line (OHTL) projects. The position ensures design integrity, compliance with standards, and seamless integration of civil works with electrical and mechanical systems.

Role Context and Objectives

The Civil Technical Support Engineer plays a crucial role in coordinating with clients, project teams, and site personnel. The primary objective is to proactively manage design activities and provide on-site supervision to ensure projects are delivered on time and to high-quality standards. This involves maintaining design intent and ensuring all civil aspects align with overall project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage the design submission schedule, coordinating with designers for timely deliverables.
• Follow up with site teams to align design priorities with ongoing construction activities.
• Review civil and architectural submittals for compliance with Project Technical Specifications (PTS), codes, constructability, and cost implications.
• Ensure all required submittals are processed through coordination with project teams.
• Obtain necessary inputs from electrical, mechanical, and project teams to prevent design delays.
• Apply value engineering principles to optimize design efficiency and cost.
• Coordinate with the Estimation team to ensure alignment between drawings and Bill of Quantities (BOQ).
• Ensure integration between civil, electrical, and mechanical designs.
• Verify compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Provide technical support to construction teams during execution.
• Maintain proper documentation of design submissions, revisions, and approvals.
• Review Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) comments and ensure all required actions are addressed.
• Coordinate with consultants (SEC) to clarify comments and expedite approvals.
• Track design changes and ensure updates are reflected in drawings and communicated to site teams.
• Develop and maintain a Design Issue Log to track challenges and solutions.
• Monitor design progress and identify potential risks.
• Resolve design-related issues with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders.
• Support the preparation of Requests for Information (RFIs) and technical clarifications.
• Assist in maintaining project schedules for timely design delivery.
• Conduct site visits to verify implementation and resolve issues.
• Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, and inspections.
• Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing within the team.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in civil technical support, preferably within HV and EHV substation and OHTL projects.
• Demonstrated understanding of design principles, industry standards, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong coordination and communication skills for effective interaction with various stakeholders.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, requiring active participation in project teams and site visits to ensure successful project execution.
