About the Commie 1 Role

Marriott International is seeking a dedicated Commie 1 to join its culinary team in Riyadh. This full-time position is integral to maintaining high standards of food preparation and service within a dynamic hospitality environment.

Role Summary

The Commie 1 is responsible for the precise preparation of special meals and substitute items, including regulating cooking temperatures for ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters. A key aspect of this role involves managing food thawing from freezer storage, ensuring proper portioning, arrangement, and garnishing of food, and maintaining accurate food logs. The role also monitors the overall quality and quantity of prepared food items.

Core Culinary Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food according to established recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklists.
• Prepare cold foods as required.
• Inform the Chef of excess food items for potential use in daily specials.
• Ensure the consistent quality of all food items.

Operational Standards and Team Collaboration

• Communicate assistance needed during busy periods to ensure smooth operations.
• Inform Food & Beverage service staff of menu specials and any out-of-stock menu items.
• Anticipate and address guests’ service needs promptly.
• Communicate professionally and clearly with colleagues and management.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships, supporting the team to achieve common goals and responding appropriately to concerns of other employees.
• Adhere to all company, safety, and security policies and procedures; report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the manager; complete safety training and certifications.
• Maintain a clean and professional uniform and personal appearance.
• Ensure confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
• Assist management in various HR functions including hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees, serving as a role model.
• Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.

Qualifications and Physical Demands

• Education: A Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree is required.
• Experience: Candidates must have at least 3 years of related work experience.
• Physical Requirements: The role requires the ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods; reach overhead and below the knees (bending, twisting, pulling, stooping); and move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.
