About the Role

IHG Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Commis Pastry to join our culinary team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is designed for individuals with 0-1 years of experience in a kitchen or hospitality setting, offering an opportunity to contribute to a renowned global hotel brand.

Role Purpose

The Commis Pastry plays a vital role in creating memorable dining experiences for guests. This position focuses on the preparation and presentation of pastry items, ensuring high standards of flavor and visual appeal. The successful candidate will contribute to the overall guest satisfaction by upholding the culinary quality expected at IHG Hotels & Resorts.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and present pastry items, ensuring high standards of quality and presentation to enhance guest dining experiences.
• Manage kitchen supplies and equipment efficiently, focusing on inventory control and waste minimization.
• Report any unsafe equipment, low stock levels, or safety incidents to the immediate supervisor or duty manager.
• Adhere strictly to all safety procedures and utilize necessary protective equipment to maintain a secure working environment.
• Maintain exceptional cleanliness and hygiene standards in the workspace, complying with or exceeding local regulations.
• Assist with dishwashing and other general kitchen duties as required to support the culinary team.
• Provide assistance to guests by addressing queries or offering advice when appropriate and within scope.
• Ensure a professional appearance by consistently wearing the designated uniform.
• Undertake additional ad-hoc duties as needed to support overall team operations and objectives.

Qualifications and Experience

• 0-1 years of experience in a culinary or kitchen environment.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and basic mathematical calculations.
• Compliance with local laws pertaining to food handling and, where applicable, the serving of alcohol.
• Must meet the minimum age requirement as stipulated by local regulations.
• Fluency in the local language is required.
• Demonstrated strong communication skills and an approachable, welcoming demeanor.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
• Capacity to perform tasks that may involve bending and kneeling.

Work Schedule

This full-time position requires flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate operational demands and ensure continuous service.
