About the Role

Bupa Arabia is seeking a Consultant Geriatrics to provide specialized geriatric care on a part-time, in-person basis at the ICC physical clinic in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role focuses on addressing the unique medical, functional, cognitive, and psychosocial needs of the geriatric population, managing a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions, and delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care during scheduled clinic sessions. The position requires 5-10 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive, in-person geriatric care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Conduct comprehensive clinical evaluations, including history taking, physical examination, medication review, and geriatric assessment during each in-clinic visit.
• Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based management plans, including medication optimization, preventive care, lifestyle interventions, and referrals.
• Manage complex geriatric conditions such as multimorbidity, frailty, cognitive impairment, and polypharmacy, ensuring continuity and coordination of care with the full-time clinical team.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, caregivers, and community services to deliver integrated, patient-centered care.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the EHR to support seamless handover and continuity of care.
• Promote healthy aging through preventive care, chronic disease management, and population health and value-based care principles.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers, providing clear guidance on diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
• Ensure compliance with clinical, ethical, and regulatory standards, maintaining accurate and complete medical documentation.
• Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based geriatric practice and in-clinic regulations through continuous professional development.
• Contribute to clinical governance by participating in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and regulatory compliance programs.

Professional Development

• Continuously enhance clinical knowledge in geriatric medicine and in-person best practices.
• Participate in relevant conferences, workshops, and continuing medical education (CME) activities.
• Integrate the latest clinical evidence into practice to improve the quality, safety, and effectiveness of patient care.

Clinical Documentation and EHR Proficiency

• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) in compliance with organizational policies.
• Demonstrate proficiency in the clinic’s EHR system for efficient and well-documented consultations.
• Participate in ongoing training and adopt system enhancements and best practices.

Patient Safety and Satisfaction

• Uphold the highest standards of patient safety by delivering evidence-based care and adhering to established clinical safety protocols.
• Identify, report, and escalate patient safety risks, incidents, and quality concerns.
• Counsel patients and caregivers on diagnoses, treatment plans, medication use, and follow-up care.
• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered consultations through effective communication, comprehensive clinical assessment, empathy, and shared decision-making.
