About the Role

The National Medical Care Company (Care) is seeking a Consultant Neurosurgery to join our team in Riyadh. This full-time position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience and involves providing comprehensive care to both inpatient and outpatient populations. The role demands a high level of professional performance, adhering strictly to established medical ethics and regulatory standards.

Professional Standards and Departmental Leadership

The Consultant Neurosurgery will operate within the framework of professional medical ethics, CBAHI/JCIA standards, hospital medical by-laws, and the laws of the Ministry of Health in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This role also includes providing effective leadership within the department, maintaining an appropriate quality plan through measurable performance improvement standards in the field of general surgery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure superior quality medical treatment, compassion, and understanding for all patients at NMC Hospitals and Clinics.
  • Provide patient care within the parameters of professional competence and clinical privileges for both in-patients and out-patients.
  • Conduct regular ward rounds independently or as part of a team to formulate multi-disciplinary treatment plans, including pre-operative and post-operative care.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the scope of the specialty.
  • Assess and refer appropriate patients to other medical facilities, and accept referrals for medical problems within the specialty.
  • Participate in the department's on-call rota for patient care and admission, responding to emergencies as required.
  • Uphold patient rights regarding security, confidentiality, and privacy, maintaining accurate and timely medical records.
  • Supervise assigned junior staff and provide leadership for performance-improvement functions as part of the Departmental Quality Plan.
  • Educate patients and families according to their needs, involving them in the plan of care and respecting their choices, with appropriate documentation.

Reporting Structure and Supervision

The Consultant Neurosurgery reports directly to the Head, Department of Surgery. This role involves supervising Senior Registrars, Registrars, Residents, Nurses, and other assigned paramedical staff, guiding their professional development and clinical practice.

Professional Development and Compliance

Active participation in Continuing Medical Education (**** through hospital activities, national, and international meetings is expected. The Consultant will also engage in training programs for junior medical staff, nursing staff, and technicians, continuously updating knowledge and skills. Adherence to Department Policies and Procedures, hospital by-laws, Rules, and Regulations is mandatory, alongside participation in assigned committee meetings such as Quality Improvement and Infection Control.

Additional Duties

The Consultant Neurosurgery will perform other applicable tasks and duties as assigned, consistent with their knowledge, skills, and abilities.
