Consultant Sports Medicine

About the Role

Bupa Arabia is seeking a Consultant Sports Medicine to provide specialized sports medicine care on a part-time, in-person basis in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role focuses on evaluating, diagnosing, and managing a broad range of musculoskeletal and exercise-related conditions within the ICC physical clinic. The consultant will deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care during scheduled in-clinic sessions, ensuring continuity of care and appropriate injury management.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive, in-person sports medicine care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up for acute and chronic musculoskeletal and sports-related conditions.
• Conduct comprehensive clinical evaluations, including history taking, physical and functional examination, and review of relevant imaging findings.
• Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based management plans, including non-operative management, rehabilitation, exercise prescription, and referrals when indicated.
• Manage common sports medicine conditions such as muscle, tendon, and ligament injuries, joint pain, overuse injuries, and concussion.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including physiotherapy and orthopaedics, to deliver integrated care.
• Promote musculoskeletal and exercise health through preventive counseling, injury-prevention guidance, and return-to-play assessments.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers, providing clear guidance on diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
• Ensure compliance with clinical, ethical, and regulatory standards, maintaining accurate and timely medical documentation.
• Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based sports medicine practice and in-clinic regulations through continuous professional development.
• Contribute to clinical governance by participating in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and regulatory compliance programs.

Professional Development and Documentation

• Continuously enhance clinical knowledge in sports medicine and best practices through participation in conferences, workshops, and CME activities.
• Integrate the latest clinical evidence into practice to improve patient care quality and effectiveness.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) in compliance with organizational policies.
• Demonstrate proficiency in the clinic's EHR system and participate in ongoing training for system enhancements.

Patient Safety and Satisfaction

• Uphold the highest standards of patient safety by adhering to established clinical safety protocols.
• Identify, report, and escalate patient safety risks, incidents, and quality concerns.
• Counsel patients and caregivers on diagnoses, treatment plans, medication use, and follow-up care to support informed decision-making.
• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered consultations through effective communication, comprehensive assessment, empathy, and shared decision-making.

Collaboration and Teamwork

• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care and optimize clinical outcomes, ensuring continuity between part-time in-clinic sessions and full-time coverage.
• Provide clinical expertise and recommendations to support evidence-based decision-making and integrated care planning.
• Facilitate clear and timely communication among healthcare professionals to ensure continuity and quality of care.
• Mentor and support junior physicians and healthcare professionals through clinical guidance and knowledge sharing during scheduled clinic time.
